I made my weekly pilgrimage out to my trainer’s last week to see how Ferra, my four year old Elite Mae Candidate mare, is doing. Sandy made her look utterly regal. If I didn’t already own her, I would have bought her on the spot. Ferra is finally starting to fill out and is starting to get larger hindquarters that match her big shoulders and long, elegant neck. She’s also able to maintain balanced, correct gaits without cross cantering in the corners.
The ulcer medication has improved her temperament tremendously and she’ll now stand quietly and calmly when saddled and isn’t girthy. Thank goodness that problem seems solved. It was incredibly demoralizing to see my sensible, calm mare become unmanageable.
Another two months and I should actually be able to start riding her myself!
